FASTPITCH SOFTBALL BAT REVIEWS

POWER & EXIT VELOCITY

Ghost Advanced: Its two-piece, balanced design uses its Double Barrel 3 composite technology to create a “trampoline effect” that combines with Easton’s Power Boost Soft Knob, to generate Top-level EXIT VELOCITY for Contact Hitters and Slap Hitters.

Mantra: Uses its balanced construction with an ultra-light end-cap (-10, -11, -12 drops) that helps players improve BAT SWING SPEED to generate good EXIT VELOCITY.

Winner: Easton Ghost Advanced

BAT SWING and CONTROL

Ghost Advanced: Its -10, -11, -12 drops enables pure Contact Hitters and Slap Hitters to generate good BAT SWING SPEED with good BAT CONTOL in the hitting zone.

Mantra: Balanced bat with its ultra-light end-cap allows Contact Hitters and Slap Hitters to generate good BAT SWING SPEED. More importantly, the Rawlings Mantra light feel allows hitters to make mid-pitch adjustments to drive balls hard.

Winner: TIE

SWEET SPOT & MIS-HITS

Ghost Advanced: Its Double 3 barrel has a large SWEET SPOT that enables off-center hits to still leave the barrel “hot”.

Mantra: Uses Rawlings’ 3-Step Inner Barrel with a 15% thinner outer barrel that results in a larger, more forgiving SWEET SPOT, turning more “misses” into solid line drives.

Winner: TIE

FEEL & VIBRATION CONTROL

Ghost Advanced: Its two-piece construction and ConneXion Evolution, a high-end composite, works with a premium grip to provide good VIBRATION CONTROL and deliver a more cushioned feel on contact.

Mantra: Uses its F2 Collar connection to dampen feedback from MIS-HITS, improving VIBRATION CONTROL as energy moves into the handle, creating a fast, smooth, low-sting feel on contact.

WINNER: Easton Ghost Advanced

BREAK-IN PERIOD

Ghost Advanced: Requires some practice hits. Plan at least one or two good BP sessions (50–100 swings, rotating the barrel) before relying on the Easton Ghost Advanced for peak performance, even if it already feels “hot”.

Mantra: Requires a lengthy break-in period of 3+ BP sessions (150-200 swings).

Winner: Easton Ghost Advanced

DURABILITY & BAT FATIGUE

Ghost Advanced: Has 70% Positive Reviews with most Negative/Neutral Reviews cited DURABILITY issues and early BAT FATIGUE, losing its “pop” after one year of play. Note: Some reviewers complain that Easton can be difficult regarding warranty claims and returns.

Mantra: Has only 65% Positive Reviews but it is a small of a total Reviews; most of the Negative/Neutral Reviews cited DURABILITY as a major issue with some complaints of early BAT FATIGUE.

Winner: TIE - but not in a good way.

PRICE (MSRP)

Ghost Advanced: Has a top-tier price of $499.99.

Mantra: Has a mid-tier price of $399.99.

Winner: Rawlings Mantra

BOTTOM LINE - Both the Ghost Advanced and Mantra bats (in -10, -11, -12 drops) are easy to swing with large SWEET SPOTs, enhancing Contact Hitters’ and Slap Hitters’ BAT CONTROL in the hitting zone. But the Easton Ghost Advanced gets the nod for its outstanding “pop”. Note: With concerns about DURABILITY buyers of either bat should be aware of the associated risks of breaking/cracking.
