EASTON FIRE FLY REVIEW
AT A GLANCE
The Easton Fire Fly is built for Youth & Rec League hitters who need a very light-swinging bat that helps them maximize their bat swing speed and bat control. This will reduce strikeouts, put more balls in play and greatly improve their confidence. This evenly balanced, two-piece composite bat also has excellent “pop”. Finally, Easton’s ConneXion+ system (which connects the handle and barrel) and Flow-Tack grip does an excellent job of reducing vibration (“stinging hands”), adding to young hitters’ confidence and aggressiveness at the plate.
It’s a Balanced bat with a -12 drop that helps Youth & Rec League players generate good bat swing speed AND enables young, developing hitters to better adjust their bat’s swing plane to the ball’s path
Large, forgiving sweet spot turns slightly off-center hits into hard contact
Two-piece, composite construction gives it a softer feel than a basic one-piece alloy bat
Two-piece, composite construction provides good “pop” while reducing “sting” with effective vibration control
Better choice for younger, smaller hitters than for stronger hitters who can handle heavier nats
Best fit for Youth & Rec League hitters, and older, smaller Slap Hitters
The Easton Fire Fly is not a power bat. It is a youth-oriented bat built around a lighter swing helping to generate better bat swing speed AND bat control to adjust to pitches in the hitting zone. While its composite construction does give it good “pop” off the bat, its light swing weight doesn’t bring enough mass to the ball.
Power & Exit Velocity
Wh
Youth & Rec League hitters who need to generate good bat swing speed and need a lighter swing to better control the bat in the hitting zone. Younger, smaller Slap Hitters will also need a lighter-swinging bat to better control in the hitting zone.
Swing Weight & Feel
Sweet Spot & Forgiveness
The Easton Fire Fly has a redesigned seamless carbon barrel that provides a more flexible feel and more consistent performance. For younger hitters, that means a friendlier feel and more playable contact when swings are not perfect. That is the major objective of the Easton Fire Fly - to help younger hitters turn more swings into usable contact by giving them a bat they can actually move through the zone with confidence.
Break-in & Durability
While Easton claims it is hot right out of the wrapper, because it is a composite bat, you should expect the Easton Fire Fly will need a break-in period of 2+ batting practices (about 50-100 swings, rotating the barrel 1/4 turn after each hit).
The Easton Fire Fly is not ideal for Power Hitters who want their best exit velocity when they have good contact. They will overpower this light-swinging bat with squared up balls ending up as hits that are weaker than expected. Teams (8U & 10U) that need a “heavy-use” bat for several players to use should look elsewhere given durability concerns expressed by several reviewers..
FINAL VERDICT
The Easton Fire Fly is a bat built for young, developing hitters who need a very light-swinging bat, an easier bat to control, and better comfort than a harsher or heavier bat. If the hitter is getting stronger and already handling a heavier bat, she has probably outgrown the Fire Fly and is ready to move to that heavier bat - AS LONG AS SHE CAN GENERATE GOOD BAT SWING SPEED WITH IT!!! Finally, for older, smaller developing Slap Hitters, the Easton Fire Fly could be a good choice.

The Easton Fire Fly is an evenly balanced bat with an -12 drop that is designed to create an ultra-light swinging experience. This will help younger hitters maximize their personal bat swing speed and improve their ability to control the bat in the hitting zone.
Durability of the Easton Fire Fly is on par with other composite bats for younger, smaller players. The frequency of damage increases if the bat is a team bat with heavy usage, particularly in cold weather. Note, Some reviews have claimed that Easton can be difficult when attempting a warranty claim and returns.
The Easton Fire Fly uses its ConneXion+ system to create a stiffer, more powerful connection between handle and barrel, increasing its off the barrel “pop”. This also reduces vibration on contact helping younger hitters feel less punishment on mis-hits or in cold weather while still driving the batl.
However, the Fire Fly is not a brute-force bat. Its value is that it should be easier for the right hitter to use well.
For stronger hitters, that same easy-swinging setup can eventually become the limitation. Once a player can clearly handle a heavier bat (i.e., generate good bat swing speed with it), they should move to that bat. The ball will travel farther on good contact.

My final advice:
Use it sparingly in practice (other than break-in period), saving it for games
Don’t use it in weather under 60 degrees
Always check the bat’s Certification standing for the Association, League or Tournaments where you plan to use it
Make certain you understand both Easton’s and your selected retailer’s warranties and return policies
